A good club
today, stayed home to recover frm my illness den nth to do so decided to blog abt wad a good club shld haf....
CLub in here means like council,an organisation that plan stuff for student body or plan activities for it's members etc.....
I was in student council so i knew wad a good club shld haf........and those clubs members who wish to improve their clubs can read my entry here and try to pick up some good points to make ur club more effective and attractive to others......
Firstly,a club shld haf a clear agenda of what it wants to do for the year.A good decision making committe shld be able to do the job.A club need a good solid backing and a leader who have a clear vision of what he wants the club to do for the year.
Secondly, the leader of the club shld have a certain charisma.A certain charm that when pple look for him for help,he is able to provide a solid and workable solution and that pple know that they can trust him for help.
Thirdly, communciation is vital.Dissemination of information is very impt. For eg,if there is a meeting at this certain time and date and location, make sure everyone gets the info.Never ever have last min. meeting and double cfm every members have the info.Give at least 1 or 2 days in advance.Personally,i hate to have last min. meeting and den that no one tells me in advance. It is v.irresponsible.It will spoil everyone schedule.Confirm everything.let's says there is a car washing at 10am,den confirm with that person that he or she is needed for the activity in advance.Don't says i confirm with u again and never get back to that person or get back to that person last minute. If u need that person for that activity, juz be firm and says,"yes,i need u for that activity and kindly come down to the location at wad time.'It's as simple as that.Dun ever leave that person dangling in the midway, unsure whether he or she is confirm or not.
Fourthly,be serious during meetings.Personally,i do admit i am the kind of person who play a fool in meetings during council. But slowly,i realise it is costing other pple time when u play a fool and not stick to the agendas during meetings.I learnt it during my JC2.That is why when i chair the event 'The One',all my meetings are short.U can ask my CCACO members abt that. The meeting could end in half an hour but if u play a fool,it will drag on to maybe 1 hr plus or so and worse still, never get the agenda done.It is better if the chairman of the meeting would put a stop.Make a stand during meetings of no-fooling arnd.He or she muz take control of the situation so that other members' time are not wasted.
Fifthly, try to spread the workload equally. That could be done if the club have more members. If can,try to spread the workload evenly. For eg,if that person is the head or vice head or rather, organising committee of a certain event, after that event is over, try to give the pple a rest at the next event.Rest doesn't means give a ligher role but totally excuse those pple frm participating.....however,if realli not enuff pple den gif the pple lighter roles.Lighter roles doesn't means sai kang or lousy work but realli like help out.For eg,help out to man stalls during bazzaar or sth.......I had enuff experience to says that it tasted like shiet to have 2 major ad-hoc projects back to back.I participated in the Orientation 1 den came the Chinese New Year project.2 major projects....that time is realli my lowest point of my college life....haiz.....
These are the 5 major points of a good club.
Hope this entry is beneficial to those in a club or waiting to take over the club executive committee....
I miss my council :(
